It was looking like the Aggies' Cinderella magic was going to continue into the Sweet 16. Acie Law hit yet another big shot to put the Ags up by two with less than a minute to go. A&M needed one stop on defense to advance. The Ags played just that on LSU's last possession, but guard Daryl Mitchell drained an improbable 3 pointer that was a good 2-3 feet behind the arch, and with Antanas Kavaliauskas' hands in his face.
Had the shot not gone in, the Aggies would have been playing Duke in the third round. Amazing, considering the Ags didn't win a conference game two years ago.
The future is extremely bright for A&M hoops right now. Chris Walker is the only player being lost to graduation that played a significant role. The Ags will also welcome a highly ranked recruiting class that includes several top Texas HS graduates. Finally, A&M is about to spend some serious money for basketball related facilities including locker rooms, practice facilities and hanging scoreboards for Reed arena.
Congrats to the team for a great year- I can't wait for next season!
