The Commemorative Airforce is an organization which preserves vintage WWII combat aircraft and operates them around the country at airshows. One of the organization's main goals is "To perpetuate the spirit in which such combat aircraft were flown in the defense of our nation, in the memory and hearts of all Americans."
Here is a link to their Web site, as well as a direct link to the story of FIFI, the world's only flying B-29 (the bomber which dropped the atomic bombs over Japan).
