A&M Kicker Szymanski to play this year

Here's something to get excited about as an Aggie fan. Matt Szymanski will graduate early and be eligible to play for A&M this year. He is a tremendous weapon in terms of controlling field position on kickoffs (something A&M has struggled with recently), and being able to put points on the board from 50 yards away from the endzone.

Here's an excerpt from the announcement article:

"Szymanski's 61-yard field goal off of the ground against Euless Trinity (Dec. 3, 2005) in the state semi-finals came just before halftime and cut the Trinity lead to 7-3. The kick is believed to be the longest in national high school records without the aid of a kicking tee. It is the longest in Class 5A state playoff history and the fifth-longest all-time in Texas High School history."

PS> Kicking off a tee vs off the turf makes a HUGE difference!
