Last night around 8:00 pm, Jamie started having strong contractions and other labor symptoms. It got to the point to where she was very uncomfortable, so we decided to call the hospital. After discussing what was going on, they asked us to come in. After making it to the hospital and being admitted, they did some tests to see if Jamie's water had broken. They determined it had not, checked her cervix and decided to send us home (she was not dialated). We made our way home and tried to make her as comfortable as possible. Jamie continued to have strong contractions all through the night approximately every 10 minutes. She got very little if any sleep. It was horrible to see her in so much pain and not be able to do anything for her.
This morning, she was in so much discomfort that we decided to call Dr Cone's nurse. She asked us to come in to be checked, so we again made the trip down to the medical center about 10:30 am. Upon examining her, Dr Cone revealed that Jamie was then approximately 3 centimeters dialated. He went ahead and admitted her for observation, with the plan to make a determination later this afternoon. They now have an IV in her and have given her some pain medication in the drip. Thankfully this is allowing her to sleep. I am writing this from her room while she sleeps.
We've decided to opt for an elective C-section due to the estimated size of the baby. Dr Cone has gone to Willowbrook for an appointment, but is coming back to the hospital to perform the surgery around 6 pm.
So.........it looks like everything is going to happen as planned, just a day earlier. It's hard to believe we are going to be parents in just a few hours! We're both so anxious to meet her. I'll post some more details tonight after Mom and baby are resting. Please keep the three of us in your thoughts and prayers.
