Okay, this was rough! Since Avery's birth she has been a pretty sheltered child. She stayed home with me for the first three months of her life and then started her routine: Monday/Friday with Mommy and Tuesday-Thursday with Mimi and Papaw. As she started getting older we felt it was a good idea to have her start mingling with other little peeps, so we started doing the preschool circuit around town. Luckily there were only two to choose from, so we went with the Children's Courtyard. After visiting, Michael and I felt it was a good fit. We took Avery on the tour and she had so much fun. It made us feel good about the decision we were making....until the "discovery" session. We had been talking school up for the few days prior, making it sound like fun, reminding her of the good times she had when we toured, etc. Then we got there, then we started making our exit, then she screamed! Of course I am crying in the lobby, listening to my sweet Avery baby cry like I have never heard her cry before and it was just absolute torture. I wanted to run down the hall and grab her and take her and never bring her back, but then what would I be teaching her - cry - get what you want. Wrong! If Michael had not been there, I would have done it. So she only stayed for about four hours that day and when I picked her up, I was immediately greeted by the school director and told there had been an incident - OMG! What could have possibly happened in four hours? Some other little girl had bitten her on the nose in an attempt to get her pacifier! The director was quick to tell me "other than that she had a great day and no refunds by the way". By the way, I made the part about the refund up. I know this will be hard for a while especially since we dropped her off again this morning and the wailing ensued, but I have to remember that this is a good thing for her and it WILL get easier - right? (see the pictures below)
Hanging out before we told her it was time to go...When she was told it was time to go.
Clinging to daddy for dear life.
The bite... It will get better! Please let it get better!
