30th Birthday Bonanza!

For my 30th birthday I actually had a birthweek! It started out with Happy Hour with my fun work peeps/friends! We had dinner at Chuy's and then set off to sing some karaoke - we struck out on that, so we decided to make a human totem pole instead - just as fun. Tiff and I rode around in her new Jeep with the top down and the music blaring - it made us feel oh-so-young!

Then on my actual birthday I hung with my two most favorite people. We ordered in and had our traditional RJ Goodies deliciousness! Michael even got fun party favors, and Avery loved the kazoos. She really just liked taking them apart.

Our friends from the 'hood stopped by to help us eat cake, however they chose to keep their identities anonymous.

On Saturday, my parents came over with my most favorite little man! We had a yummy lunch, ate some more cake, and as usual, just enjoyed watching Avery and Benny make a mess in the pit! Grandpa read stories and Avery was very in to it, but Benjamin just wanted to color. They sat at the picnic table and had a little snack with their eyes glued to Toy Story the whole time. I then gave Benny a fruit roll - come to find out, it may have been his first one ever. We immediately saw the effects the sugar had on him. It was hard not to laugh when he was launching goldfish across the room and running up and down the halls screaming, laughing and slamming doors. It was a fun day!

Later that night, I met my friends Datra and Danielle and we headed off for some Mexican food and a trip to Target. I know this does not sound like a woo-hoo night out on the town, but for three moms, going to Target at 9 o'clock on a Saturday night with no kids in tow was heaven!

Sunday night we met my sweet in-laws at Mia Bella in Vintage Park for some oh-so-yummy Italian food. Seriously, that place was delicious. Avery enjoyed the fountain outside of the restaurant but didn't want anything to do with her spaghetti and gigantic meatball - kids! After we got over the wine debacle of '09 (basically, it was one of those "I'm not going to drink if your not going to drink" kind of things that finally got settled by me ordering a drink - jeez!), we enjoyed our delicious feast! I got some super fun presents, ate some super good food and thanks to the wine I did not want to order, I got some super good sleep that night!

We ended the festivities in Scottsdale, AZ- a place I have always wanted to go, and a fun place it was! Michael and I got a much needed weekend/shopping/spa getaway. Even though our rental got a flat when I ventured off by myself to the outlet malls, and we had to pay the $50 bag charge from the airline because I bought so much stuff, it was well worth it! We didn't take as many pictures as we wanted to, but here is one of us in the pool - it was really hot that day.

A special thanks to everyone who helped make my big year so special, and while 30 doesn't feel much different than 29, I expect this will be my greatest decade yet!
